About us
Melbourne Assisted Conception Centre was established in 1996 by Dr Mac Talbot.
The Reproductive Medicine Unit originated in 1991 as part of the Mercy Hospital For Women which was established in 1971 by the Sisters of Mercy and is dedicated to the care of women of all ages, cultural backgrounds and religions. The service was originally offered as part of the Outpatients Department and has now evolved into a spacious, modern facility located within the brand new Mercy Hospital For Women in Heidelberg. Consulting sessions are also available at our East Melbourne site.
Our philosophy is to view your treatment as a series of graduated steps, commencing with the most natural and least invasive options progressing up to the more technological procedures such as GIFT (Gamete Intra Fallopian Transfer) if necessary. At MACC we believe couples should be given information about their treatment options and be very much involved in the decision making process.
Whilst we work within the guidelines of the Catholic Church, our non biased assessment, allows referral for I.V.F treatment in another Reproductive Unit if this is considered the best treatment option for you as a couple.
At MACC we offer specialised care for couples with a diverse range of conditions including Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and age related infertility.
